I know they're not good for me. God knows what's in them beside a ton of sodium, but I love a good hot dog. So every once in a while I treat myself to the best hot dog I can make.
I'm not real particular about what kind of bun I use, as long as it's steamed soft and large enough for what I want to put on the hot dog.
I am more particular about the hot dog itself. I like the pure beef or angus hot dogs. This is what you'll need to make my hot dog, aside from the bun and dog I've just described.
- yellow or stone ground mustard
- 2 slices of cucumber, the length of the bun
- lot's of sweet diced onions
- diced tomatoes
- sweet krout ( I'll post the recipe for this next post)
- sprinkle of salt and pepper
This is how to put this wonderful dog together. First in the bun are your cucumbers. Line up one slice against each side of the bun then place the hot dog in the center. Drizzle on some mustard, add the onion and then the tomato. I like about 1/2 as much tomato as onion. Love my onions! Top that with some of your homemade drained sweet krout and season with the salt and pepper.
